In August 2023, I traveled to the Brazilian Amazon to attend LABverde’s Speculative Ecologies Residency after two years of remote research on the Amazon Rainforest. These are just some of the photographs which emerged out of my research there. In the past, I have often adopted a “bird’s eye view” vantage point— and I was able to do that again climbing up high observation towers, rather than flying in the air. However, that tendency was completely inverted in the forest. I found myself drawn to detail and texture, witnessing the vastness of the forest from the inside.
